If you do decide to play, don’t expect any development support in the near future, and definitely don’t expect rampant cheating to be punished on PC. Realm Royale isn’t a bad game, but it fell victim to the Hi-Rez Studios technique of shamelessly chasing trends where if the game isn’t an immediate breakout success, the studio starts winding down development only to put the game on life support. There has been seemingly no effort put into moderating cheaters on Realm Royale.

If you play the game on consoles this obviously isn’t a problem since you can disable cross-play with PC users. On the other hand the unfortunate side is that Realm Royale also has a lot of hackers using aimbots and speedhacks, among other cheats.
In any given match you’re likely to find at least 70% of the server (estimated) are bots. Realm Royale makes up for the lack of players by filling servers with bots. The social media accounts for Realm Royale haven’t been updated since October 2020 and the Heroic Leap Games since 2019. The website for Heroic Leap Games throws up a security warning as the website’s SSL certificate expired April 29 and hasn’t been renewed.
#DEAD REALM FREE TO PLAY UPDATE#
The last update published for Realm Royale came out in February 2020 and the development team has been dead silent ever since. The bad news is that Realm Royale is yet another abandoned title by Hi-Rez Studios.
Over the course of 2021 the concurrent player numbers have generally stuck in the 1200-1500 range and it’s not impossible to find a match in a decent amount of time. The good news is that Realm Royale is still up and running and the population is there in small numbers.
